Julian Smith

My art celebrates colour and nature.

I’m interested in how colour can have a subtle effect on our moods -how it soothes, energises and resonates differently for each person.

I use minimalist forms, reduced & distilled to their pure essence, rendered as silhouettes, like the residue of fading memories.

I want to explore the possibilities of a monochromatic palette over an expansive field of colour.

My recent paintings hint at the ephemeral nature of existence ~ fading light in the fleeting moments of time.
